The Brief
The client initially approached us to resolve persistent issues with their WordPress website, which frequently crashed and struggled with SEO challenges. After successfully bringing the site back online, further analysis revealed that simple fixes wouldn’t be enough to ensure long-term stability. The root of the problem lay in the site’s foundation—a WordPress theme built for basic blogs rather than a structured, resource-driven medical information platform. Additionally, heavy reliance on third-party plugins had led to conflicts, performance issues, and instability, further compromising the site’s reliability.
Another major concern was the search functionality, which was slow and inefficient, making it difficult for users to find relevant content on ankle conditions and treatments. Given that the website was meant to serve as both a comprehensive medical resource and a platform to promote Mr. Andrew Goldberg OBE as a leading authority in orthopaedic surgery, it was clear that the current setup was not fit for purpose. Simply rebuilding the site with a new WordPress theme would not solve these fundamental issues. Instead, a complete redevelopment was necessary to create a scalable, user-friendly platform that offered long-term stability, enhanced search capabilities, and a modernized user experience.
Blazing-Fast Performance
We rebuilt MyAnkle.co.uk using Next.js, delivering exceptional speed, SEO benefits, and scalability. Leveraging server-side rendering (SSR) and static site generation (SSG), the site now loads significantly faster, ensuring a smooth and responsive user experience—crucial for a medical resource platform.
Flexible & Scalable CMS
We migrated all content from WordPress to Prismic, a modern headless CMS, providing a future-proof, flexible, and easy-to-manage content system. This allows Mr. Goldberg’s team to update articles, publish research, and manage medical resources without technical barriers, ensuring long-term scalability.
Search powered Algolia
To improve discoverability, we replaced the slow and inefficient WordPress search with Algolia, an AI-powered, real-time search engine. Users can now instantly find expert information on ankle conditions, treatments, and researchwith highly accurate, fast, and intuitive search results—significantly enhancing usability and engagement.
Modern UX & SEO-Safe Migration
We redesigned the website with a clearer structure, modern aesthetics, and improved navigation, ensuring an intuitive and user-friendly experience. The site is now fully responsive, accessible, and visually engaging, making it easy for users to find the information they need. Additionally, we remodeled the sitemap, preserving SEO rankings and search indexing through structured 301 redirects and optimized URL structures, ensuring a seamless transition with no impact on organic traffic.
