The RNOH needed a website to accompany a huge recruitment campaign they were running in the summer of 2016 to increase nurse numbers at the hospital. The site needed to promote the amazing career of nursing plus the hospital and surrounding area.
The main focus of the website is a series of short informational videos created by celebrated film director Jan Letocha which focus on the various areas of nursing which are to be found at the RNOH. The website needs to present these videos in an easily accessible way across all devices including tablets and mobile.
We worked extremely closely with the hospital to ensure that the content, which we presented in terms of the facilities and benefits available to nursing staff, was accurate and visually appealing. We tried to utilize some more unusual visual techniques alongside some animated statistics in an attempt to draw attention to what is a key area for attracting new nursing staff.
It was hugely important that the site give users all the important information about the surrounding area, things which someone who works there and is new to the area would need to know. We researched thoroughly important areas such as local schools, travel and leisure activities available in and around Stanmore.
The RNOH really wanted to show potential new recruits the many and varied ward environments within which they could work. We created a template structure of content for each ward to deliver the key areas people might wish to see. The aim was to convey the friendly and rewarding environment by highlighting the people who work there. This was done by taking photos of all the staff, creating a video for each ward presented by the lead nurse, and also showing a 360° photo so people could actually look around the ward.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, we needed to illustrate just how straightforward the application process to become a nurse is. We created an animated timeline to illustrate the flow of the process, and presented each step with clear and concise language, providing a clarion call to action for people to come and apply.
